Livio Gianola
Flamenco – Guitar
Livio Gianola comes from Bergamo, Italy, where he studied classical guitar and composition. He is an exceptionally talented composer/guitarist who (very unusually) plays the 8-string guitar with astonishing ease.
His compositions are catchy and his playing is characterized by warmth, dynamics and virtuosity. He is the only non-Spanish composer to have written music for the prestigious Spanish National Ballet. In his fourteen-year collaboration with the famous dancer Antonio Canales, he wrote the music for the mega productions "Torero" (1992), "Narcissus" (1995), "Gypsy" (1996), "Minotaur" (2002), "Bailaora" (2004) and "Bohemia" (2006).
Livio Gianola has performed in important concert halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées Paris, the Teatro de la Zarzuela Madrid, Lope de Vega Sevilla, Bunka Kaikan Tokyo, Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Grand Theater Shanghai and the Dionysus Theater at the Acropolis in Athens. He has performed at important events as a soloist and in various formations, such as the "Foro Popular" in Barcelona, Seville's "Bienal de Flamenco" and the "Festival di San Remo". He has appeared on various television programs such as the Italian RAI, RTSI (Switzerland), TVE (Spain), VPRO (Netherlands), etc. Gianola also wrote film music (winner at the Rimini Film Festival) and at the same time composed classical works such as the "Concert for Guitar and Orchestra" and the "Levantine Suite" for guitar and orchestra.
