Quadro Nuevo
Worldmusic
Quadro Nuevo is the European answer to the Argentinian tango. Arabesques, Balkan swing, ballads, daring improvisations, melodies from old Europe and Mediterranean lightness condense into fabulous fables of sound.
Quadro Nuevo has been touring the world since 1996 and has given over 3000 concerts. Always on the road the instrumental quartet has developed its very own language of sound poetry beyond the usual genre pigeonholes. It is characterized by a passionate love of the instrument and the greatest joy of playing. The secret is dedication. Rarely has music been performed with so much excitement and empathy for foreign cultures.
The venues where the four musicians perform are as diverse as the roots of their music: Quadro Nuevo not only performs in concert halls and at festivals.
Quadro Nuevo not only performs in concert halls and at festivals, the playful virtuosos also travel through southern cities as street musicians and invite people to dance as a nocturnal tango band, they give concerts in jazz clubs and in New York's Carnegie Hall. In 2010 and 2011, Quadro Nuevo received the ECHO Jazz award for best live act and was thus honored with the highest German music award.
